Just about every morning, I ride my motorbike from my home in Chalong, south to Rawai, where the gym I go to is located. This means that at least twice a day, I go through the Chalong Circle roundabout. In the morning, it is filled with people going to work or taking their kids to school.

The road going straight away from camera goes to the southern tip of Phuket and the beach towns of Rawai and Nai Harn.

Going clockwise from there, the road going to the right takes you over the hills leading to the southwestern beachside towns of Kata and Karon.

The road going past and behind the camera to the right is Chaofah Road West, which (while changing names several times) goes all the way to northern tip of the island.

The road going past and behind the camera to the left is Chaofah Road East, which goes all the way to Phuket Town.

And the last road on the left, right next to the police checkpoint (where, if you don’t have the proper license and helmet, you will also learn where the nearst ATM is) takes you a short distance to Chalong Pier.

Now, you might be saying to yourself, “Maybe they should put in a tunnel.” Yeah, well there IS a tunnel and it’s still this busy.

I have long wanted to take pictures/video of the circle from higher than street level. Obviously, flying a drone was out of the question. However, there was one tall, skinny building that look like it could be accessible. Many thanks to Khum Piim of Chalong Service Car and Bike Rental for letting me go on your rooftop to take these images. I told K. Piim that she should think about putting a restaurant on the top floor. She said she’s thinking about it…
